Before and After Care
Pre-Appointment Tips
Check out these helpful tips to follow before your sugaring appointment!
- Ideal Hair Length: 1/4 inch or about the length of a grain of rice.
- The best time to visit is approximately 2 weeks post-shave, or 4-6 weeks following your last sugaring appointment.
- Exfoliate 1-2 days before your appointment - Using a dry brush, exfoliating scrub, or exfoliating glove are great ways to prepare your skin for sugaring prior to your appointment. Removing dead skin cells keeps your skin healthy and hydrated and softens your hair. The hair will be removed quickly and with ease!
- No products - DO NOT use moisturizers, gels, creams, deodorants, etc. on your skin before your appointment!
- Hydrate - Drink plenty of water. I mean, this is a good fact for all scenarios!
- Avoid caffeine, this prevents your pores from tightening.
- Avoid suntanning 24 hours prior to your appointment.
- Taking an Advil or Tylenol 20 minutes prior to your appointment can help minimize any discomfort!
Post-Appointment Care
For the first 24 hours be sure to avoid:
- Intense exercise or working out after your appointment.
- Applying products to freshly sugared skin (i.e., makeup, lotions, deodorants, creams, fragrances, etc.).
- Sex, if you have had intimate areas sugared.
- Touching freshly sugared areas. Ensure to keep freshly sugared skin bacteria-free!
- Sun tanning or using a spray or self-tanner.
- Exfoliating the skin for 24-72 hours.
- Pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, and lakes.
Be sure to drink plenty of water to keep your skin healthy and hydrated. Apply a cold compress to freshly sugared areas if the skin is feeling sensitive.
To Ensure Best Results
- Drink plenty of water! Yep, I’ll say it again, staying hydrated is an important factor in achieving happy, healthy skin!
- Exfoliate 2-3 times per week.
- Moisturize daily - ensure you moisturize immediately following your shower so your skin can soak up all of that great hydration.
- Avoid shaving between sugaring appointments – if you must, opt for a body hair trimmer instead of a razor.
